Most recently, I've been loving family sessions that start inside and then move outdoors. In this case, I got to begin by documenting a bit of Emma's every day in the comfort of her most familiar place, and then move to watching her explore with the grass beneath her toes, before coming back inside to wind down for her morning nap.  What a perfect, cozy session with this gorgeous one year-old and her parents ...

Waiting for Baby - Philadelphia Family Maternity Photographer

Nina is one of those kids that just totally steals your heart -- immediately.  She greeted me with a huge smile on her face and spent our entire session snuggling and playing with her mom and dad.  She ran, she explored, and she twirled around in the woods in her favorite dress.  And she seems to be pretty excited about becoming a big sister in a few weeks.  I had the best time doing a family maternity session with these three in one of my favorite Philadelphia spots.  I can't wait to see them again when their little guy arrives ...

Big Brother Enzo - Philadelphia Family Maternity Session

When we moved into our new house a year ago, we lucked out with the most incredible neighbors around -- including Nicole, Marco, and Enzo.  I have loved getting to know them, and couldn't wait to photograph them enjoying one of their final mornings as a family of three.  A planned outdoor family maternity session turned into a cozy in-home session instead, thanks to a chill in the air and a little rain falling down.  And sometimes these things just work out exactly the way they are supposed to, because their house was the PERFECT place for me to capture a bit of their connection ....

Michael Jackson Living Room Jams.

My kids don't always get along, but when they do, it's magical.  Michael Jackson sing-a-longs have become a regular thing in our house --  and on the afternoon pictured here, Rayna taught Ember the art of belting out "Beat It" with some serious emotion.  Most days with these two are total chaos, but I love the pauses in that chaos that lead to them being so in sync ...

Jackson & Mama -- Documentary Family Photographer

Photographing Jackson and his beautiful mama was one of the highlights of my year so far.  They played, they snuggled, they danced around their living room.  He practiced scooting across the floor with the most adorable crawl, and then they snuggled some more.  Spending time with these two renewed my spirit and energy, and I went home from this session appreciating and loving my own kids a little more ....

I've had the pleasure of knowing this sweet family for a little while now.  They live around the corner from me, and Penelope (who happens to be the COOLEST kid on the planet) and my daughter have gotten some serious playtime in over the years.  Penny never fails to put a smile on my face.  Her laugh is just incredibly contagious and her personality is a force to be reckoned with!  I had a blast with these three hanging at their place and taking a stroll around Passyunk Square ...

Rayna in the Woods. A personal post.

One of my goals for 2016 is to spend more time photographing my own family on a regular basis.  I mean, trust me -- I definitely snap plenty of them with my iPhone, but my grownup camera barely made an appearance around them last year at all.   It's time for me to get back to practicing my craft on the people who inspire me the most.   So for the rest of the year, I'm keeping my camera with me and available on a regular basis rather than packing it up in between sessions with clients.   

This past weekend, while on a getaway to visit friends in Florida, I fell in love with the way the woods behind their house looked just before sunset.  I took our kids out into the thick of it one night to snap some photos, and nabbed these shots of Rayna (the oldest of my two, who will be five in a few months).  I love the way she just becomes so wild and free when we're out exploring in nature, totally at home with herself ...

Baby Nathan - Philadelphia Newborn Photo Session

Rachel and Bonnie are the kind of people that you feel like you've known forever.  When I met them at their West Philly home, they were warm and inviting and just so totally focused on being the best moms in the world to their baby boy.  They immediately welcomed me into their space, and made me feel like a member of their family for the morning.  Rachel's parents were visiting that week, and they were so clearly smitten with their new grandson.  I insisted on getting them in the mix and I'm so glad I did!  Baby Nathan is one very lucky boy ...

Elliot & Livi - Philadelphia Family Photo Sesion

When I chatted with this mama about her family's upcoming photo session, she was torn between an outdoor location or their home.  When she mentioned that she really wanted to capture her one year-old's adorable baby body and the fun dynamic between her two kids, I just knew it had to be at their house.  I think it's safe to say we made the right call ---  It turns out that there are few things that Elliot loves more than playing on the bed with his mom, dad, and sister.  And Livi was just born to snuggle and is so comfortable hanging with her favorite people in the world. This foursome made my job so easy ...

Mama & Me Beach Maternity Session - Stone Harbor, NJ

One the highlights of my summer so far was photographing this beautiful mom with her boys on the beach in Stone Harbor.  I love being a Philadelphia maternity photographer, but when the heat is on, I also love getting a break from the city - and this is one of my favorite spots along the South Jersey shoreline.  I've been photographing this family for a few years now, starting with their lifestyle newborn session for Zeke -  who's now training to be a big brother.   I had the sweetest time doing this maternity session by the sea  and can't wait to meet their new baby when he arrives ...
